Welcome to the second part of our blog “Social media for small businesses (SMEs)”. Read here why community management, advertising, reporting and risk management are also crucial for SMEs - and how we can support you.

The essentials for a successful social media presence:

Community management

Talk to your audience

To build a lively and engaged community, you need good community management. Interact with your followers and respond to comments and messages promptly. This strengthens the relationship with your customers and shows that you are accessible and interested in feedback.

Tip: Schedule fixed times for interaction with your community, e.g. through a calendar entry, to regularly read and reply to comments and messages.

Advertising

Ads & cooperation

Targeted advertising is an effective way to increase your reach without breaking your budget. Invest small amounts in advertising campaigns on Facebook or Instagram. You can also “boost” individual posts. Read here what you can achieve on social media with just 10 francs. Another way to increase your own reach is to share posts with partners such as other companies, customers or - if it suits - influencers. Tag each other and share each other's posts. This way, both sides benefit.

Tip: Budget around 10 to 15 francs per advertising campaign on social media, depending on the content. Cooperate with other small businesses or influencers. You can tap into new target groups through joint campaigns and cross-promotion. If your company is looking for new orders and customers, advertising on Google may make more sense than on Instagram & Co. We would be happy to advise you!

Evaluate

Observe what works (and do more of it!)

Use the analysis tools of the social media platforms to monitor the performance of your posts. Tools such as Facebook Insights or Instagram Analytics show you which posts are well received and which are less successful. Adjust your strategy based on these findings to continuously achieve better results.

Tip: Experiment with different types of content and analyze what appeals most to your target audience. Flexibility and adaptability are the keys to success.

Risk management

Take safety precautions

One aspect that is often overlooked is risk management. Companies should take precautions to prevent the loss of access data or the hacking of accounts. This includes regularly checking access rights and storing important information securely with a trustworthy service provider - such as with us. It's better to be safe than sorry! If you store your information securely with us, we can then support you immediately if you have access problems.

Tip: Create an emergency plan in the event that access is lost or accounts are hacked. This plan should include steps on how you can react quickly and minimize the damage. Deposit your access data with an agency who can help you quickly in an emergency.
